Waterford Viking Marathon takes place in the historic Viking City of Waterford with full, half or quarter and relay marathon options available. This will be the fifth year of what is undoubtedly the South East's biggest and best running event.

Waterford Viking Marathon is renowned for its music and entertainment along the route which makes for an electric atmosphere on the day. Over ten live music bands and DJs assist in taking the runners along a musical 26.2 miles. This year the route will yet again take in many of the Viking City streets before heading out to infamous seaside town of Tramore. The Regional Sports Centre on the Cork Road will then play host to the finish line which allows runners to enjoy an Olympic style lap of the track before being reunited with family and friends.

Here you have the chance to enjoy a fun festival feel celebration at the stadium with more music, kids' entertainment and food vendors. All participants receive a medal, t-shirt and goodie bag on completion of the event and maybe a famous Waterford Blaa...if you're lucky enough to get your hands on one!

The 2016 Full Marathon route has been officially measured by an AAI approved course measurer and is AIMS certified. A fantastic day is guaranteed with a warm welcome from the people of Waterford!
